Please take some time to look at the Acrylic Paintings posted in the Student Gallery from this semester’s first project. For these paintings students worked from direct observation with a limited palette. In other words, we used only 5 different hues (or colors) for this assignment: Pthalo Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Napthol Red, Yellow Ochre and Titanium White. As a result, students had to translate what they were seeing in terms of value, temperature and saturation within the limited color choices that were made available to them.
